So – in the nick of time to meet the Easter deadline – Mom and Dad were caulking and painting before the new carpet arrived. Many late nights, early mornings and paint splatters, and they got it done with about 20 minutes to spare. The only things remaining are those pesky finishing touches that will be done before my cousins come next weekend (I made my parents take a break to focus on my birthday this week.)
Here is the laundry room. Despite it being pink, I’ve given in that I actually like it. (mom is beside herself and would sleep in their if there was room for a bed.) The cabinets are from IKEA and were modified to fit the space. Now we can hide our dirty stuff in drawers below the machines. As mom keeps saying “the possibilities are endless.”
This hallway between the laundry and bathroom is quite different from before – there was a fake wall that blocked the window and enclosed the electrical panel – the wall was removed, a new window revealed and the panel was relocated. I’m happy because it meant I get a magnetic chalkboard to play with – more space for me and all my stuff! (This brown color is in my play area and the hall and stairs – the tv room is still green – that space is a mess so you can’t see it.)

The bathroom is done!

The sink was reclaimed from a store that sells old home parts…

I’m just happy to have my basement back and now we get to get ready for the dance party! (oh…and by the way, I do not know what penultimate means…I think it means that soon I’m not going to let my mom take over my blog with home decorating pictures.)
