Park City 2012

What a way to spend our winter break!

Here are some highlights of our trip to visit Havana and Charley in Park City, Utah and get a little skiing in.

I was proud of my parents because after not skiing since high school, they both gave it a try and did quite well. While, they couldn’t keep up with me, they still did a great job – Mom didn’t even fall once! (She did run into a tree though.)

That’s me in the crazy pants between cousins, Mark and Natalie.

You can’t miss me flying down the mountain. (I don’t use poles because when little kids first learn to ski, poles just get in the way – or fall of the lift…)

We skied a path through these trees – Tia Karen lost her pole and had to hike up, Natalie fell hard and Mom ran into a tree – Mark and I did just fine!

A beautiful place to be…

Apres Ski – one of the best parts of skiing – the time spent in the lodge after a day on the mountain. Annabel didn’t ski this year, but kept the lodge warm for us.

My dad and Tia Karen – best buds.

The last day was really warm, and we were pooped from skiing all week. Just enjoyed soaking up sun before heading back to Seattle.

Here’s a little video montage to give you an idea of what the week was like:

We can’t wait to go again next year!

Middle of the week surprise

It’s a special treat today! Some more pictures of…you guessed it…me and Annabel!

Lydia took these shots of us a couple months ago and we just got our proofs! As you know from Monday’s post,  trying to get good shots of two small children, is not easy. But here are some of my favorites (minus the best one which mom is giving away to the family in the Christmas card if she ever gets them finished – oops – don’t tell her I told you.)

There are a zillion more, so, we might post more soon…

Here’s Annabel, pure and simple:

Me and my sis, sneaking around. Blonde and tan from summer fun.

Candid and natural:

Some of the best portraits:

Can’t you just see us as teenagers doing the same thing in 15 years?

Thanksgiving Feast

For the first time in my life, we stayed home for Thanksgiving. While we really missed our cousins and grandparents, we made the best of having four free days.

Happy Thanksgiving! (luckily, my mom only makes us match a couple times year)

Here’s Annabel using fancy plates for the first time:

What a feast!

Fried turkey is the way to go:

Then Annabel helped do the dishes:

Florida and the Alligators

We spent 5 days and Miami – despite the constant, pouring rain, we had a blast. We stayed with our cousins, Tory, Bella and Christopher while Mom and Dad went to Isla Morada for Pablo and Jessica’s wedding.

We had so much fun with the kids!

When Mom and Dad got back, we went to the Alligator Farm – it stayed dry for the few hours we were there, so even though we didn’t get any beach time, we learned a lot!

Annabel gets close:

Here’s a real one:

A whole lake of them:

Luckily for that fence, we are safe:

Not sure why the alligator wrestler would do this:

We got to hold one:

And eat some Alligator Tail Nuggets

Here is one that got really huge:

And some babies that we got to feed some dog food:

They had other reptiles. Here is a reticulated python that ate a duck a few days ago:

And I held a little one:

We highly recommend the Everglades Alligator Farm!

Pumpkins ’11

All of the sudden – it’s October!

Before we left for our Floridian adventure, we had to visit the pumpkin patch to stock up for the season.  While, I have to wait to carve my jack-o-latern until we get back, we had a lot of fun picking them out.

Mom was trying to get a nice photo:

I’ve learned how to make my “cross-eyes”

That’s a lot of pumpkins:

Happy Harvest!

Annabel’s first day of preschool

Annabel will be starting at my old preschool – it is a complete Spanish immersion school – I hope she loves it as much as I did. She will go two mornings a week.

She picked out her clothes and shoes to make an impression the first day – the back pack has nothing in it, but she loves wearing it.

They better be ready for her.

Here she is with her pal, Sofia. Sofia and Annabel are going to spend 2 days a week now with our nanny.
